In January 2009, St. Augustine residents Renee and Jim Wauldron lost their son, Don.  Don was just 22 years old.  Don was dedicated to helping others, and participated in the Alternative Break, where students use their vacation breaks to travel to different destinations and help others in need.  Renee and Jim Wauldron have started the Don Wauldron Foundation to honor their son and to support his favorite cause – The Alternative Break! In the past four years, the Don Wauldron Foundation has donated over $50,000 to alternative break programs at different colleges.

The Don Wauldron Foundation will hold it’s fourth annual Don’s Friends 5k Funfest at Hyundai of St. Augustine’s two-day funfest.  The two-day funfest will take place at St. Augustine beach pier and will include beverages and food from over 30 vendors, rides, merchandise, and a beer/wine tent for adults.  On April 12^th, 2013, there will be live music from 12-3pm and a disco party from 5-9pm.  Attendees are encouraged to dress up, as there will be prizes awarded for best disco costume!

The St. Augustine Lighthouse Festival is a staple to the St. Augustine community. Each year, the community comes together for a relighting of the lighthouse lens.The First Light Maritime Society and the Junior Service League of Saint Augustine are excited for their new event, Night Fest, presented by Hyundai of St. Augustine, on March 2, 2013.

The community is invited to come out to this family-friendly event to celebrate historic preservation, and community gatherings. Events include a 5k, fun run and cooking competition from local restaurants. A little exercise and some good eating – what could be better?

Admission to Night Fest is $5 per adult and $3 per children; runners and museum members or Local Annual Pass holders are free. Tickets to try samples of food in the Cooking Competition and cast votes are available at an additional fee.

Join in the Fun

The fun all starts at 4 p.m. with general admission. Be sure to come early to catch up with friends and get ready to race! The JSL Michelob Ultra 5K Run starts at 4:30 p.m. followed by the JSL Quadrant Fun Run at 5:30 p.m. Cue the music at 6 p.m. and grab a plate to test out samples from the Cooking Competition. For the first year, the competition will focus on local rice dishes like Minorcan Pilau.

The main event comes at dusk when the lighthouse’s lens comes alive.

A special program on navigation by the stars will be held in the Lighthouse Gallery with support from Sea Your History and the Smithsonian Institution Affiliations Program.

The 2012 Genesis 5.0 R-Spec model will be powered by a new Tau V8 engine producing 429 horsepower and 376 lb. ft. of torque. February sales reached 43,533 units, up 28 percent compared with the same period last year.   For the year, total Hyundai sales are up 25 percent, with retail volume up 51 percent.

“February was very strong for Hyundai,” said Dave Zuchowski, Hyundai Motor America’s executive vice president of national sales. “Consumer activity was high, credit was readily available and the overall impact on the Hyundai business was really encouraging.  With improving supply of our red-hot 40-mpg 2011 Elantra, and increasing consumer concern with fuel prices, we’re looking forward to an even stronger March.”

Overall retail sales through dealerships rose 46 percent from last February, led by a 103 percent retail increase for Sonata and a 74 percent retail increase for the all-new Elantra.
